We slept in today, on account of awful sleep, bah humbug
So we didn't get on the trail until after 9am, not the end of the world, on account of our tiredness we decided to hoof it the 8 miles to the next water source and call it a day. This means we have 23 miles left, we have two dinners left, so we have a lil buffer, I am hoping we'll escape in a day and a half or so, time will tell
We started with 2 miles up hill, then a few mixed miles of up and down, then 4 miles down to this water source, by water source I mean barely moving puddles off to the side of the trail, but it's cool and fresh tasting, and saved our lives, I arrived here with only a mouthful of water left, it's been so hot and dry, it's been an educational experience hiking this southern californian section
We had our breakfast/lunch on the peak of our climb, around 7,000ft, tomorrow we'll be climbing up to 8000ft from the water source, good news is that there is another spring half way up the mountain, so we can pack lighter to begin with
The other highlight of the day was flies and bugs, in our face, swarming our hair and everywhere else, all day pretty much.. Fun times, thankfully none made it into our food, and we slaughtered all that invaded our tent.
So I think it is here I leave you, 7:08pm on a pleasant sunday afternoon.
