Back in action after our detour, good news though, the desert is still interested in murdering us with heat and dehydration, we packed 6L today each and had to resort to the spring near us that is contaminated with uranium, yay for superpowers, we'll let you know what special abilities we get..
In all seriousness it isn't so bad, it tested above the levels deemed safe for a lifetimes worth of consumption, we took only a few litres, and we'll only drink what is absolutely necessary, fresh untested water awaits in only 4miles!!
Which is the sad facts for nearly all the water we've drank so far, who knows what we've been really consuming, but we filter everything..
Otherwise today started early in Ridgecrest, to catch a 3 times a week only bus that goes around 7 back to the trail. Was one of those short airport shuttle type buses, and for the low low price of $3 each we were on our way
The trail today was a mix of half the day up, the other half down, which will be the flavor of the next few days, good practice for the Sierras which is just around the corner, so excited to get out of this desert and try a new biome, which is basically the hardest part of trail, and we'll be packing more gear, a bear cannister to protect our food, ice axe, microspikes for traction, some more clothes, fun times.. The big plus is we won't have to worry much about water for a while, so the days of hauling our body weight in water will be behind us, so awesome
