You know.. I feel lied to, we.. feel lied to.. There was all this talk of the desert ends at Kennedy meadows and its the Sierras after that..
It still feels like the desert, hot, dry, dusty.. We are at 8000ft though, so we've got the altitude challenges as well as scorching exposed trail.. We mailed our umbrellas back at Ridgecrest, expecting significant weather changes up ahead..shenanigans..
No matter
Tomorrow we are heading towards 10,500 ft, a new record for us, hoping for an excellent view..
Tonight and last night we have been hearing owls, which is a new thing, we saw a bit of a meadow today, small as it was, all there have been signs of change, just not soon enough, walking in 90F/32C temps wasn't great, and we had to take several siestas today, we mistakenly thought waiting from 11:30am to 3:30pm was enough, we then ended up hiding in shade from 5pm to 6:30 pm.
The one mega plus side to today's leg, in barely 7 miles we had access to three water sources, not including the one we camped at last night, so while we've drank a lot of water today, we never had to carry more than 2L at a time.
So tomorrow we will see how the elevation treats us, it's still a struggle bus but we're hoping that this next leg will fix some od that struggle, seeing as the next 10,000miles are at elevations between 8-12,000 ft
