We left Ridgecrest today, after spending way more time healing than either of us would have liked. During the last fifty mile stretch I tweaked my hip and left me limping for the majority of the distance, which while unpleasant, also slows us down considerably, and we decided it was better to rest with ready access to food and water rather than be at risk in the middle of no-where. The challenge at being in Ridgecrest, while cheap, is that it's an hour away from where we left the trail at Kennedy meadows.
Our front desk agent at the hotel was awesome and called her sister in law who is a trail angel in lake isabella, and the stars aligned as she was able and willing to collect us from Ridgecrest and drop us off at the trail head. Her name is April and she's was a lot of fun to talk with while we drove back up the mountain.
We hit the trail at 3pm and we had an awesome hiking lunch prepared, hoagies from dominoes from the night before, so good.. So filling in fact we didn't even want dinner
We hiked a few miles and called it a day, largely because i hurt my hip again..which is awesome..cough.. I only had to waddle 0.3 miles to the water source and camp site, so I got lucky.
It's a lovely spot though, with a babbling brook behind us, soft sand to lay on, and a swarm of varied bugs trying to eat us..
So here we'll leave you, in hopes of a good night's rest and a healed hip
