It was with mixed feelings we left the hotel today, we were excited to get to the trail but it was so nice to have access to a hot tub and pool, and flush toilets of course

But hit the trail we did, not before bacon and lunch though

We observed a significant change in scenery again today, we are at lower elevations, not even 4000ft, but it is still different than the lower regions we've crossed before, it was still fairly barren, but the ground was soft and felt largely like loose gravel for the most part, so it was more like waddling on sand than anything else, which sounds nice, but it makes walking at any speed hard as your feet are constantly slipping, while we had a few losses of traction there were no slip n falls

We walked past a huge wind farm, and as you'd expect it was pretty windy for the time we were out walking, and it's pretty windy now in our campsite as I write this, should be an interesting night

Oddly most of the wind mills in the wind farm were not spinning, it would be hard to believe that many are broke, a mystery for another time / google

We saw a few lizards, a bird, and a nope rope, he was a different pattern than the last few so we snagged a photo and kept moving
Since we started late our mileage expectations were around 8miles and we ended up close enough to that, we survived the heat wave and it should be a more reasonable temperature tomorrow

Just before we headed off trail to camp we made it to white water river, more of a small stream currently but allegedly in wetter years it can be 10ft wide, there is evidence on the sand of more water but this year is certainly not a wet one..

Our detour to white water preserve was a pleasant wander thru a river bed and little wooden bridges for half a mile, all the way to this little oasis in the desert, free camping and good water, nice palm trees that are clearly old, and a wading pool your can cool your feet in, great for the inflammation a days hiking can cause, and bats.. bats eating bugs..

So with that thought, sweet dreams
