We woke up in a bed, knowing it was the last time in a hundred miles encouraged us to linger and enjoy it, soon hungry took over though and a breakfast sammich and coffee was needed, then it was back to the room to pack, take a last shower, and check out, fun times for all

 (Note it says non dairy)

(Then explains it had dairy in it)

We waddled to the pub for lunch, and it was a busy place so it took nearly an hour to get our food, which was fine, we just guzzled their well water to hydrate for the hike ahead, after eating we went next door to the grocery to get waters, and bacon bits (awww yessss) to jazz up our couscous meals for the upcoming stretch, it said it was made with real bacon, and it didn't taste awful, so.. Win!

When we left, we hitched, and Jocelyn snagged a ride in eight minutes forty seconds, so talented, a kind gentlemen named Alfred picked us up and we had a pleasant chat, he was originally from New Jersey but after high school travelled the country in a VW combi and settled on living in California, on the plus side we were so clean, we washed pretty much everything, even our tent.

Before we left though we visited the outfitter to replace some things, Jocelyn replaced her failboat rain jacket with a new one, replaced a lost spork, I replaced two not waterproof anymore dry sacks and replaced my ripped silk sleep bag liner (oh yes ladies and gentlemen we sleep with silk sheets in the woods).

They are actually very functional, add some warmth value, keep our filthy bodies off our near impossible too wash down sleeping bags, and being silk has some antimicrobial properties to help with the hiker funk we got going on

This devil slide trail though, yikes, was straight up for 2.5miles, then the next 1.4 miles of pct we did was up, and the kicker with the altitude is it robs you of oxygen content, it's no joke and we were totally riding that struggle bus for the last half of the miles

There were a lot of day hikers out, all coming down the hill, most were polite and observed the basic rule that those going uphill have right of way, but there were more than a few gonks bulldozing their way downhill oblivious of basic trail courtesy, such is life

One day trotter stopped and chatted about my kilt, and asked if it was a dare, which of course it's not, I hike all the time with it, so very breezy, his friend got a picture with me and we carried on the uphill climb, at this point I think we'd have been happy with a field of razor wire to camp on, but we got to the too of this ridge and possibly our most awesome site yet.

There are two other tents here but we can't see each other, and the view is awesome, given its 9000ft elevation we'll see what that's like overnight, it's already dropping temperature quickly

Okies, it's hiker midnight and the sandman is calling, lator gators
