Welcome to the no swimming lake..

Today started out so nice, had the camp ground to ourselves, no rodents or animals messing with us, easy peasy..

Even the first 5 miles seemed a treat, nice views, some shade, not too steep..until we descended to the beginning of the last five miles, which was mostly up, steep, scorching, and unsheltered.  Today's MVP was totally the Sun umbrellas, we'd have died in the midday sun without them, we burnt thru our water faster than we'd planned so arrived at camp down to our last  mouthful of water each, so thirsty, and the low humidity just sucks the water from you, there is a store nearby so I'm going to buy all their cold liquids and drink them

Currently however I'm at our shaded picnic table at our camp site, so life isn't so bad, we finished up our hiking at 2pm today and only needed 9.32 miles to get to our stop point

Tomorrow looks to be 12.4 mile day so it'll be a little more of a stretch than today was
We saw a lil rabbit today, assorted bugs, a neat lizard, a wood pecker, and our first hiker quitting the trail, hurt his leg on the way down the hill and spent 4 days waiting for it to improve so he could hike the last five miles out (welcome to the suck)

There are a bunch of hikers at the campground though, you can tell by the suffering in their eyes and the hiker trash around their tents, that and no cars at the sites either.  Hiker trash is basically the contents of a hikers pack, unpacked and scattered around a hikers location, not a pretty sight really but most packs have one opening, so dumping it out is pretty much essential if you want to do your chores, or eat..etc

And the lake we are at... Lake morena, has a permanent order preventing swimming or touch, sounds safe..totally safe..
