Today was an easy and awesome day, easy in that the miles were low, we started from our cabin of comfort, fed and hydrated, and the elevation changes didn't feel significant
It was awesome because of the views to the desert floor we started to see at after leaving Mt Laguna, I'll add a few below for you..
Totally alien landscape from our usual lives, and at least from afar very captivating, the photos won't do it justice of course, but what else can we offer our readership given we aren't poets
So we hiked our miles today after enjoying a delicious breakfast (anything we don't have to make ourselves is delicious) at the cafe, which is run by lovely people who open the cafe during hiker season on their off days at discounted prices to offer some respite to the weary travelers. We stopped a few times to ogle the view and take photos. At the end of our trail miles we had lunch under an observation deck, and walked the last mile into the camp ground and then to the camp site, which is awesome, mostly empty and we haves access to water, power, and hot showers, and toilets.. Flushing toilets... Such a treat..
And these two rocket scientists set up their super ultra lightweight space age fabric tent, weighing 2.9lbs, in gusty conditions.. You see where this is going.. Turned our backs on it without adding ballast... And the wind punished our mistake and carried it away some 40ft like a kite before we caught up with it and dragged this now full winded sail back to the spot we carefully picked out... Oops.. Just fortunate no damage was done..
So we'll shower, eat, and crash, in readiness of a few hard and dry days in the desert
