Today is one of those kite flying days, cept we are the kite and it's blowing hard enough to rip said kite of any string we have, crazy windy, and it started last night after we crashed. It picked up to the point it was carrying all the surrounding dust and dirt into the tent via the ventilation channels, so tonight's shelter it all hands on deck and baton down the hatches ye worthless land lubbers.. Yarrr.. Needless to say we expect less dirt in the tent tonight, we'll see how that works out
We only did five of our planned 12 miles today, it was near freezing when we left camp, tolerable when we have all our clothes on, but then it started to pelt us with sleet at 30-40mph winds, kinda like being sandblasted in the face with ice, then started the beloved wintery mix, basically is sleet and melty ice rain so we got wet and cold pretty fast. We pulled over in this camp spot to hide in the awesome smelling pit toilets, and when the water stopped falling from the sky we decided to say no too continued hypothermic conditions and setup camp, so currently hiding in sleeping bags trying to recover some body heat
Thankfully we are at the last place for maybe 25 miles that has water, so it's a good thing we called it here, I got brain freeze drinking from my canteen earlier today..
However with the wind and weirdness of today came some lovely views, and clouds so close you could reach out and touch, and some that reached out and touched us, winds that very nearly knocked us over, all in all a memorable day and not without its charms

Hopefully the never ending Pittsburgh winter and all your hiking to and from work helped dull the pain.
