Today saw us leave camp awesome after an excellent breakfast that included bacon, toast, potato, and scrambled eggs, it was all delicious, and then Chery drove us up to the trail where we got a ride on Thursday.
It was a little sad to leave but we have many miles to do, and I suspect we'll come back to visit with Chery again
The first five miles of today flew by, and before we knew it we'd found ourselves at eagle rock. Named for its resemblance to an eagle with its wings spread. We were the only pct hikers there but certainly not alone, is a popular spot and troop of kids on an adventure hike were there partying around for a while, was good to see on a Saturday folk enjoying the mild weather and great outdoors, thankfully they departed before we did so we got some photos that weren't crawling with people
After we departed the eagles nest we had about 3 miles to go to Warner springs resource Center, our next water location. Warner springs community resource Center provides a lot of services to the residents all year round, but this time of year is definitely peak hiker season and they do a great job supporting the hikers while also using the money from bikers to serve their community for the rest of the year, is a good system for sure, there were a lot of hikers there living it up, there was an airhockey table and couches etc, watering house, bucket showers, and soft toilet paper with flushing toilets!!
We didn't partake of much though, bathroom and water, then we headed back out, we decided that we'd camp away from the teeming masses 2 miles further down the trail. We found a relatively flat spot on a dried out river bed, there is a lot of that in Cali, I guess the one rain storm per decade would make use of where we are but like it doesn't look like it's been wet in a good while
So we've got some dry stretches coming up, so more careful rationing of water is in our future, good times
