Today started early with a chorus of coyotes in competition for who could be the best alarm clock, was a tough competition and all put in a great effort but coyote #23 was the judge favorite

We had a goal today to get early tomorrow morning arrival at the next water source, and we are within 8 miles of it, yay not dying in the desert of thirst.  We picked up this afternoons and tomorrow's water at about 10am after 5 miles from camp, we had to haul over a gallon each, fun times ontop of fat food bags, but so necessary,  we'll be out of water most likely by the source tomorrow, where we'll do the same thing and haul a day and a night of water with leftovers to take us to the next water source, definately a theme in this desert stretch.

Interestingly the US Army in ww2 attempted to train their troops to do with less water than medically warranted, was called water discipline / troop abuse, and wasn't at all effective, the body needs it's full amount and we are trying to do so

We even have electrolyte packets, so spoilt
The miles today were mostly up hill and shade was super scarce, after 8miles we called it a day and set up shop, was nice to put our feet up at midday with no where else we needed to go.  We were thinking of going further but we have high wind advisories in the area and this camp site has a good deal of brush to act as a windbreak, so we are hoping for the best

All in all we are all in good spirits, and still finding our rhythm I think, there is still so much to learn and refine in our routine, our morning pack up routine is getting better, I still don't like the wake up at 5am thing, but I like cooking in the midday sun less so it's what we are doing, and we can break camp in about an hour now, down from 1.5hrs, so little by little, even the order in which we put items into our packs impacts our efficiency in tasks later, so there is a lot of trial and error, but what else do we have to do besides tweak our backpacks and approach?

Not like we have jobs to go to..
